I’ve been using Ubuntu 8.04 for almost a year now on my desktop, and it’s been great. In with running the same application , and similar due to there not being a port from windows or something it’s actually about 20-30% faster than windows xp, and by far more stable. I’ve also built a Ubuntu system for my brother. His wife likes more than windows since it’s actually more intuitive for her to use. I haven’t put it on my laptop yet because of testing other things, but if thing go as planned I’d like to get away from running windows entirely.
I thing Ubuntu is one of the best distros to start off with, and use on a regular basis.
